Records, [ca. 1740]-1972.

Sermons, genealogical records, photographs, postcards, church programs, histories, and clippings of the First Presbyterian Church of Smithtown and of its pastors. Of note is an agreement between the church trustees and George Curtis, 1823, for Curtis to build a "new house of worship" (the present church structure on Middle Country Road in Smithtown). There are sermons of the Rev. Naphtali Daggett, ca. 1755-ca. 1774; Rev. Joshua Hartt, 1775-1807; and Rev. James Sinclair, 1876; most in manuscript, with some photocopies. Other papers of Rev. Joshua Hartt (1738-1829) include a transcription and a photocopy of his book of marriages and baptisms, and a photocopy of Hartt's account with genealogical notes on the Hartt family. Other church records include papers of various church organizations, including the Ladies Aid Society and Benevolence Society; bylaws, 1956; typed copy of marriages and baptisms, 1751-1867; and weekly announcements, 1947-1952, with scattered dates to 1972.
